Method of Delivery

This class will be held online using GoToMeeting.  Class participants will receive a PDF of the book and will be able to access the class files online.

When you register, be sure to use the email that you would like your GoToMeeting invitation sent to.  The meeting invitation will be sent no later than 1 hour prior to the class. Check your junk mail if you do not receive an invitation, especially if you have a Gmail or Hotmail account.  You do not have to have a GoToMeeting subscription to participate.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This class is designed for the intermediate/advanced Excel user that would like to continue building on their Excel knowledge. We will look at basic and advanced conditional formatting tools that will help you quickly identify data that meets certain criteria. Then we will move on to text functions that help you join and divide data and functions that allow you to create drop-down boxes or validate data. Finally, will look at a few common statistical and date functions. If time allows we will work with Date Functions.

CONDITIONAL FORMATTING

• Apply Basic Conditional Formatting to cells
• Use Top/Bottom Rules
• Use Data Bars and Icon Sets
• Manage and Clear Rules
• Use Formulas to Conditionally Format Cells

WORKING WITH TEXT AND USING TEXT FUNCTIONS

• CONCAT, CONCATENATE and TEXTJOIN FUNCTIONS
• Identify and Remove Duplicates
• Use Text-to-Columns and Flash Fill
• Work with Data Validation

WORKING WITH DATES

• Understand Date Serial Values
• Use the TODAY, NOW, YEAR and MONTH functions
• Use WORKDAY and DATEDIF
• Converting Dates Stored as Text
• Using the DATE function

PREREQUISITES: Excel Level 1 or equivalent knowledge.
